How do I know if I am fit enough to attend?

For the Mixed Ability Class you will need to get on and off the floor without any assistance and you will need to be able to lie on your tummy comfortably.  When you are standing, you need to be able to keep your balance without having to hold on.  If you need a walking aid when walking outside, it is likely that my mixed ability class will not be suitable.  If in any doubt, please contact me and I can advise on the appropriate options.

Can I exercise when I have osteoporosis?

Pilates is a safe and effective form of exercise if you have osteopenia or osteoporosis.  There are a few exercises that you need to avoid (excessive flexion) but I have a handout on alternatives.  Please ask me for more details.

Can I do Pilates when I am pregnant?

Yes!  Congratulations.  Please let me know either by email or before the class starts.  Most exercises can be adapted.  Once you are over 20 weeks I recommend that you go to a specific Pregnancy Pilates class.  I can give you some contact details for these.

When can I start Pilates after having a baby?

Enjoy the first 6 weeks with your baby and focus on sleeping and resting.  At 6 weeks you can join one of mixed ability classes although I recommend that you arrange for a 45min 1:1 session first.
