Absolute Beginners Class
As the name suggests, this is a class for those with absolutely no Pilates experience. 6 weeks of classes, working on the basics, understanding some of the terminology and getting to grips with some of the well-known movements. At the end of the 6 weeks, you’ll be familiar with shoulder bridges, roll ups , roll downs to name a few and you’ll have an improved body awareness as well as feeling stronger and more flexible. In-person and Zoom options
Mixed Ability Class
These classes are open to most abilities. If you have significant health issues, you may not be suitable to join this class. If in doubt, please contact Sara. The class involves about a 15min warm-up in standing and once we are completing the main section of the class, I layer the exercises, building up the level of difficulty. I use small pieces of equipment such as soft balls, therabands and small hand weights to vary the exercises, add interest and change the emphasis of the movements. In-person classes and Zoom options
Strong, Steady and Straight Class
This is an adapted Pilates class which can be completed in sitting or standing and requires no getting on and off the floor! The focus of the class is working on posture and balance using adapted Pilates principles to strength muscles and improve joint flexibility. You will need to complete a health form before joining this class. Zoom only.
Zoom Classes
If live, in-person classes are not able to continue for any reason, all classes will be moved online. I use Zoom video conferencing which many people are accustomed to using these days. Prior to the class starting, you will be sent a link to click and follow, along with a passcode, this will take you straight the class.
Set up at home
Try and clear enough space so that you can move freely, arms stretched out to your sides and enough room overhead to lift your arms over without hitting a wall! Have a practice with your laptop webcam, check you can see the screen and if possible, set up the screen so I can see you too.
I recommend that you use a yoga / Pilates mat as this will provide some grip and padding. A small folded towel or thin cushion will act as a suitable head pad. Loose clothing is advisable and do have a water bottle to hand.
You are welcome to have your camera on or off but for a full Pilates experience I really recommend you have your camera on so I can see you (no one else can!)) and then I can give you some feedback.
I record all the Zoom classes and the recording is saved on my Zoom Cloud for 5 days. After the class I send it out to everyone booked on the class. This is a great way to catch up if you missed the class or want to practice your moves before the next class.
I also offer a variety of one-off workshops including:
Yoga & Pilates Fusion Class
Therapeutic Yoga Class
Charity Classes – contact me if you would like me to put together a fund-raising workshop for a charity of your choice.
